Avoiding fish overload...The general, foolproof, no-brainer rule for fish load is one inch of fish per one square-foot of pond surface area. This calculation works in setting where you have these four key pieces: - Rocks and gravel on the bottom of your pond. - Proper mechanical filtration, which includes a skimmer. - The use of a quality biological filter such as Aquascape Designs' BIOFALLS® filter. - A good supply of aquatic plants. If your pond is missing just one of these pieces, you should cut the formula in half just to be safe. |
